Abstract (en)

History of the pulpit (executed 1434-1438 by Donatello) and of its condition up to its removal from the facade of the cathedral in 1970 and its installation in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo. Describes various campaigns of cleaning and restoration over the course of the 20th c., especially the treatment with fluosilicate of magnesium carried out by Sanpaolesi; also notes the temporary removal of the pulpit during World War II.
