Abstract
(en)
Reexamines Lorenzo the Magnificent's policies and projects in Florence, involving new streets, lower and middle-income housing, and the encouragement of palace-building. Focuses on the urban renewal of Piazza SS. Annunziata and via dei Servi, 1477-1478, and on the development of the area east of Piazza SS. Annunziata. Argues that the plan for a new Medici palace in Via Laura by Antonio da Sangallo the elder (annotated by Giuliano) was intended for the households of Giuliano duke of Nemours and Lorenzo duke of Urbino, and proposes a date after 1 July 1515. Appendix with correspondence by Ercole d'Este to Lorenzo, 27 May 1478.
