Publishes a 1937 account by the German architect of a visit to Japan, which is narrated as a conversation between Taut and a character named Mr. Suzuki, a composite of a number of Taut's friends and acquaintances in Japan. Taut discusses not only the architecture in Japan, but some of the daily rituals of Japanese life.
