Abstract (en)

Argues that prints, because largely a medium for private consumption, offered Renaissance artists the opportunity for permissible yet genuine deviancy from norms of decorum in their choice of imagery and style. Discusses examples by the Master of 1515, who employed humor to offer political commentary.
