Abstract (en)

In response to Forty's commentary on the adequacy of design history as currently practiced (Design issues, this issue, pp. 16-18), Margolin reiterates his belief that a field of "design studies" rather than "design history" would better serve the design community, as it would more effectively bring historical research into relation with current practice of design.
