Presents a brief overview of recent excavations of Migration period settlements in Flanders, a region from which few settlements of this period have previously been investigated. A discussion of the pottery follows, with special reference to chaff-tempered pottery which appears to be identical to that found in Anglo-Saxon England both in technique and petrology. Concludes with a review of the evidence for the chronology and distribution of the technique and a consideration of the implications of the Flanders finds for the origins and distribution of chaff-tempered pottery.
