Looks at the urban and architectural projects carried out in Ravenna under the Venetian Republic, 1441-1512. These included strengthening the city's defenses (walls, towers, a fortress), the improvement of the streets and water supply system, and the construction of palaces, churches and hospitals. Also points to the fact that the Venetians spoliated Ravenna's Early Christian monuments to embellish their own city.
