Abstract
(en)
On the cult of S. Michael Arcangel in Lazio and the church and monastery (Santuario di San Michele, founded ca.830) dedicated to him on Monte Altino. The church was rebuilt in the 1890s by Silvio Forte as a Gothic Revival grotto sanctuary. Describes the devotional image - a sculpture (possibly by Pompeo Ferrucci) of the Arcangel. Observes that Poussin depicted Monte Altino in his work Et in Arcadia Ego (Paris, Louvre), and speculates on his interest in the religious site.
