Traces the architectural and engineering history, 1585-1590, of the aqueduct rebuilt by and named for pope Sixtus V. (Architects: Matteo Bartolani and Giovanni Fontana). Studies the arches and fountains that "present" the water at Porta Furba, Porta Tiburtina and Largo S. Susanna in Rome, focussing on the Fontana del Mosè, designed by Domenico Fontana.
