Abstract (en)

On the history, 17th-20th cs., and marble decoration of an altar (Naples, S. Gennaro) commissioned (1678) from Pietro Sanbarberio by the duke Giacomo Capece Galeota. (Provides ample biographical information on both the artist and patron.) The altar incorporates ancient marbles, including parts of a Roman cartibulum (side table).
