Examines the work of Hans (Johannes) Bornemann, especially his two Lüneburg altarpieces: the reconstructed Heiligentaler Altarpiece, formerly in the church of the Premonstratensian abbey, and the Lamberti Altarpiece in S. Nikolai. Focuses on Bornemann's utilization of early Netherlandish sources, especially works by Robert Campin, Rogier van der Weyden, and Jacques Daret. Comments on the operation of his workshop, and discusses the unusual view of Lüneburg in one of the panels of the Heiligentaler Altarpiece.
