Abstract
(en)
Explores Italian architecture and urbanism from 1943 through ca.1970. Identifies three distinct movements: neorealism, organicism, and rationalism. Discusses the need to reconstruct war-damaged or destroyed sections of Italian cities, and to create new forms of housing. Compares Italian solutions to social and economic problems related to the reconstruction of cities to solutions arrived at in other European cities.
