Abstract
(en)
Observes that before the war, Rome imported decorative arts from other Italian cities and produced little, but that changes took place in the 1940s. Focuses on Mario Loreti, architect of the Albergo Mediterraneo, and on furnishings designed by him and produced by his family firm for the hotel; and on Enrico Galassi and his successive mosaic workshops in Via Margutta and Villa Giulia, which he opened to artists and craftsmen for the design and production of ceramics and metalwork as well as mosaics.
