Abstract (en)
Analyzes cryptic and concealed painters' signatures on two pieces of German faïence: 1) a Ludwigsburg pear-shaped pitcher of 1762 signed by Johann Ulrich Sperl and Maria Seraphia de Beckè; and 2) a Künersberg tankard of 1747 signed by Sperl and a "Johan Martin Frantz" (possibly the Johann Martin Frantz who was active at Künersberg from 1748).
