Abstract (en)
Study of late 17th and early 18th c. sculptures in the gardens of Villa Cornaro, Cavasagra: five images of Hercules (four Labors and an Apotheosis) and four classical personifications of the elements by Orazio Marinali, and figures of Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, and Vulcan here attributed to Giovanni Bonazza and his sons; interprets the garden as signifying the Garden of the Hesperides, and relates the ensemble to alchemy and to the structure of Giulio Camillo's Teatro della memoria.
