Abstract
(en)
Introduces a collection of essays on British art from the 1730s to the 1930s - institutions as well as individual painters and sculptors. The authors' purpose is to try and account for the marginal position of British art vis-à-vis the development of "the Modern" by approaching that marginality as an historical problem.
