Looks at the circumstances surrounding the construction 1662-1674 of S. Maria del Prato, Gubbio, which is a copy of Borromini's 1638-1641 church in Rome. The author suggests that the patron of the Gubbio church, Bishop Alessandro Sperelli, asked his predecessor, Cardinal Ulderico Carpegna, to intercede with Borromini for drawings of S. Carlino. Connors compares the Gubbio copy with its model, drawing attention to the use of vault frescos by Francesco Allegrini in Gubbio, where the Roman church has coffering. A list of payments for S. Maria del Prato, 1662-1680, is appended, together with a summary of the Gubbio decorative program.
