Abstract (en)

History, based on documentary evidence, 1773-1779, of the ceramics factory founded by the Marqués de Pombal to supply azulejos for the new buildings of the University of Coimbra; focuses on its two administrators - Salvador de Sousa Carvalho and Manuel da Costa Brioso - and their works for the University, as well as their careers after the factory closed in 1779.
