- In connection with writings of Michele D'Elia on 13th c. painting in Puglia, considers the painting of the Madonna and Child of ca.1200 in the Vescovado of Andria in relation to Byzantine mosaics of the Madonna and Child in the monastery of S. Catherine, Mount Sinai, and the cathedral of Monreale; also relates the 13th c. fresco of the Madonna della Bruna in the cathedral of Matera to a 15th c. icon from Damascus in the Greek Catholic Church of La Valletta.
