Surveys documentary and biographical data concerning Giuseppe Verrio and his younger brother Antonio, drawing attention to problems and lacunae in the information. Presents a signed Memento Mori by Giuseppe in a private collection; and focuses on Antonio Verrio's early period in Lecce and his emulation of Giovanni Andrea Coppola, to whom a painting of the Holy Family with the Young S. John in the church of the SS. Medici, Gallipoli, is here attributed.
