Abstract (en)

Studies a painting of a young boy, Boy with Downturned Head (Dresden, Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Inv. Mo 2090), previously attributed to Pietro Graf Rotari but here demonstrated to be by Ismael Mengs. Surveys Mengs's career and speculates that the boy may be Mengs's son Anton Raphael.
