Describes participation in the Museum Educational Site Licensing Project (MESL), which involves seven universities and seven museums or archives working to devise a system for the educational use of digital reproductions on campus computer networks. Details the workings of three courses at the University of Maryland (spring 1997), the website Sargent at Harvard, the use of computer technology in examining versions of prints, and the digitized collection of Ben Shahn photographic prints drawn from the Harvard archives.
