Abstract (en)

Examines the decoration of the altar wall, the north wall, of the Santuario cateriniano, S. Caterina in Fontebranda (built 1466-1474). Against the wall is a baroque altar retable with a sculpture of S. Catharine by Neroccio, and above is an early 16th c. frescoed lunette depicting the stigmitization of the saint. Argues that the lunette is by Sodoma, and that Sodoma oversaw the planning of the overall decoration which includes adjacent frescoes by Vincenzo Tamagni and Girolamo del Pacchia.
