Abstract (en)

On a panel depicting the Presentation in the Temple (Stuttgart, Staatsgalerie) by Bartholome Zeitblom. Painted about 1497/1498, it is a wing from the (high) altarpiece of the Wallfahrtskirche of Heerberg. Meurer's iconographical investigation focuses on the iconography of the Tablets of the Law depicted behind the Child. Includes a description of the other elements of the now-dispersed altarpiece.
