Abstract (en)
Essay deals with the untitled site-specific earthen sculpture by Goldsworthy, commissioned by the Getty Research Institute for the opening of the Getty Center in Los Angeles Dec 1997. Focuses attention on how artists and the nature of their work have changed our perception of what art is and whether we need to preserve it. The piece was designed to crack and disintegrate.
