Abstract (en)

The three authors offer interpretations of Ann Hamilton's conceptual installation and performance piece mantle, mounted at the Miami Art Museum in 1998. They assert that the piece refers to 17th c. Dutch still life and genre painting, as well as to contemporary Miami's social and economic base.
