Abstract (en)
Draws on the visual imagery produced during the French Revolution in order to examine the changes that the representation of work and workers underwent in the period. Provides an opportunity to see something of the range and type of production during the period. The paintings, drawings, prints and artefacts brought together help towards an understanding of specific working conditions at the time, and the ways in which work and the worker are represented. The specific issue of gender and work is addressed.
