Abstract (en)
On the survival of archaic geometrical patterns on flatwoven tapestry textiles (kilims) from the Caucasus region. Observes that Medieval Scandinavian textiles (10th-13th cs.) have motifs that strongly parallel those of the kilims, and suggests that kilims were brought to Scandanavia by Swedish Vikings engaged in warfare (10th c.) in the Middle East. The Scandinavians then adapted the geometrical patterns for their textiles.
