Discusses Leon Battista Alberti, and the architectural historiography of the Tempio Malatestiana, and problems regarding the materials (marbles, spolia materials, etc.) and their provenances (sites in Italy, such as Carrara and Verona; and sites abroad, such as Istria Dalmatia). Also discusses how the rarity and preciousness of the building materials became the object of rhetorical topoi in humanist celebrations of the Tempio.
