Catalogue contains eight introductory essays: Frits Scholten on Adriaen de Vries's career; Rosemarie Mulcahy on de Vries in the workshop of Pompeo Leoni in Milan; Lars Olof Larsson on de Vries and ancient sculpture, and on his critical history; Görel Cavalli-Björkman on Sweden's capture of the sculptures by de Vries; Francesca G. Bewer on de Vries's bronze technique; Uwe Heithorn on the surfaces of de Vries's bronzes; and Thomas DaCosta Kaufmann on de Vries's drawings. Full catalogue entries with explanatory texts and color reproductions of every object as well as black and white comparative illustrations. Twenty-one hitherto unpublished documents appended.
