On a Viking longhouse from ca.800, reconstructed in 1995, known as the Chieftain's Hall, main feature of the Lofotr Viking museum at Borg on Vestvågøy island. The hall, which also functioned as a pagan temple, was both the most important secular and religious building in the area. The author discusses the location of the high seat in the building and its significance. He presents a reconstruction of the high seat.
