Abstract (en)

The church at Nes in Sauherad was probably built around 1150 and the frescos in the barrel-vaulted choir of the church are from the 14th c. The author describes the iconography of the fresco cycles, emphasizing that the pictures should be read in light of the context, which is the mass liturgy.
