Examines the notion of social and psychological (rather than sexual) androgyny as developed in the art criticism of German critic Gislind Nabakowski and British critic Caroline Tisdall. Notes the influence of Herbert Marcuse on this aspect of feminist art theory as well as its embodiment in the art of Joseph Beuys.
