Abstract (en)

Studies the subjects of two works by Ghezzi now in the collection of the Museo di Roma, identifying them as Innocent X Conferring the Cardinal's Hat on Cardinal Fabio Chigi and Clement XI Conferring the Cardinal's Hat on Cardinal Giulio Alberoni (both, 1724). Pays particular attention to the political complications implicit in the second work.
