Discusses depictions of themes from Ovid's Metamorphoses in paintings, sculpture, and stucco reliefs decorating the Markgräfliches Opernhaus, the Neues Schloss, and the Eremitage, Bayreuth. The decorations were commissioned by Wilhelmine, Markgräfin von Bayreuth. Compares illustrations from various 16th-18th c. editions of Ovid in Wilhelmine's library.
