Describes the Renaissance Tarot deck with a particular emphasis on the manifestations of the game in Ferrara, considering especially frescos in the Palazzo Schifanoia (Ferrara) and the prints of the so-called Tarocchi del Mantegna. Centers the discussion on the representations of the tarot in the poems of Matteo Boiardo and their commentary by Pier Antonio Viti.
