Argues that writings by Martin Luther, in particular his Septembertestament of 1522, were the source for the unusual iconography of Dürer's 1523 woodcut of the Last Supper, which seems to reflect Luther's invocation of the Gospel of John, whose account of the Last Supper differs from the others by leaving out the Eucharistic moment entirely and focusing on the preaching of Christ.
