Investigates the expanding production of silver objects expressly designed for use by children in the latter half of the 19th c. and into the early 20th. Shows that decreasing prices of silver, along with changes in attitudes toward children and childhood, brought about a larger market for silver tableware for children, much of which was destined to be presented in the form of presents upon special occasions.
