Investigates the iconography of a scene painted on a cassone panel in the collection of the Spencer Museum of Art, Lawrence, dating from the 1480s. This panel shows the Last Day, Assassination, and Funeral of Julius Caesar. Attributes the panel to the Apollini Sacrum Master, and places it in the context of Florentine politics of the 15th c., arguing that the story of Julius Caesar reflected Florentine beliefs regarding marriage and dynasty.
