Reviews buildings of architectural and historic interest on the Island Site, an area of Saint Helier's waterfront which has been the subject of incremental change and development over more than 150 years. Many of the buildings formed Jersey's Public Abattoir until 1982. Considers the development of abattoirs as a specialized building type.
