Abstract (en)

Summarizes the 16th c. decoration history and program of the church of S. Cristoforo in the Carthusian monastery, Ferrara, and examines the iconography and critical history of Cesi's painting Bd. Nicolò Albergati with the Head Reliquary of S. Anne (Ferrara, Museo civico d'arte antica di Palazzo Schifanoia; 1600), which is characterized by "pedagogical clarity and decorum". The work originally hung in the transept of S. Cristoforo.
