Abstract
(en)
Traces the general lines along which the repertory of Early Christian Christ images developed. (Types of images dealt with include body traces and other imprint relics, achiropiites and icon "portraits".) Examines the philosophical and theological paradoxes that arose from the creation of myths associated with Christ's appearance in images, observing that the inherent contradictions reflect Christianity's own contradictions.
