On Malatesta's education (1819-ca.1825) as an artist at the Accademia Atestina (now the Istituto statale d'arte Adolfo Venturi), Modena, and activity (1839-1877) as director of the academy. Explores his art education theory, and the didactic program of the academy during his tenure. Includes catalogue entries for 19th c. portraits (Modena, Istituto statale d'arte Adolfo Venturi) of Malatesta and other members of the school (including two paintings by Malatesta).
