Onbekende opdrachtgevers van Rembrandt : Jacomo Borchgraeff en Maria van Uffelen en hun portretten door Rembrandt, Jonson van Ceulen, Van Zijl, Van Mol en Jacob Backer
Two recently discovered wills by Maria van Uffelen (1679 and 1680) mention portraits of her and her husband, Jacomo Borchgraeff, by Cornelis Jonson and by Rembrandt, a family portrait by Gerard Pietersz. van Zijl, a portrait of Borchgraeff done in Paris by Pieter van Mol, and a copy of her portrait by Rembrandt which was retouched by the master. None of these portraits can be traced today. The same holds true for a portrait drawing of Borchgraeff by Jacob Backer, which was offered for sale in Leipzig ca.1833.
