Looks at the concatenation of orders in the tempiettos commissioned by Piero de' Medici (Florence, S. Miniato al Monte and SS. Annunziata) and, from Vasari onward, given to Michelozzo. Studying these forms, their proportions, the humanist taste for a monochromatic antiquity, relevant documents, Alberti's text of De re aedificatoria, and other buildings and tabernacles, proposes that the richly ornamented aediculas are in fact not in the Brunelleschian orbit - not, that is, by Michelozzo - but should instead be attributed to Alberti.
