Abstract (en)

Determines Michelozzo's design of the Palazzo Tornabuoni (1466-1469; altered 1865) and reports 16th- and 17th-c. accounts of it and the Palazzo Medici. Traces the varied impact of Michelozzo's city palaces on the work of such later architects as Bartolomeo Ammannati and Bernardo Buontalenti, especially the latter's Palazzo Strozzi Nonfinito. Looks, as well, at the Palazzo Ricasoli, which has been attributed to Michelozzo. Turns then to Michelozzo's villas, particularly the Villa Medici at Fiesole, and notes the latter's impact on the Palazzina di Belvedere, which has been recently attributed to Ammannati.
