Abstract (en)

Reviews the literature devoted to the mural originally in the apse of the Cappella del Crocifisso in the abbey at Montecassino (now in the abbey's Cappella della Maddalena). Suggests that it can be related to the mosaic apse of the former S. Pietro in the Vatican, identifying the subject as Christ flanked by SS. Peter and Paul, and associating it with the stay in the abbey of Pope Innocent III in 1208.
