Abstract (en)

Proposes that Tiepolo includes self-portraits throughout his oeuvre and lists many in all media. Notes that portraits of the artist are rare, however, and so notes with particular excitement the recent discovery in a private collection of a portrait of the artist, ca.1726, here attributed to Rosalba Carriera. Attributes to Tiepolo a small ceiling painting in the sacristy of S. Giovanni Crisostomo (Venice), which is here identified as portraying S. Gregorio Barbarigo (rather than S. Gerolamo, as is traditionally noted).
