Abstract (en)
Elucidates the iconography of an anonymous English engraving depicting a castrato singer, traditionally identified as Farinelli (London, British Museum). The authors show that the singer represented is actually Angelo Maria Monticelli, and that the print can be read as lampooning both Monticelli in particular and Italian opera in general.
