Contrasts the British view of French and English 18th- and 19th-c. law and justice as exemplified in the pictorial arts. Studies works by Gillray, Copley, West (the latter two contrasted with David), Matthew Ward, and the caricaturists for Punch, as well as the prose of, among others, Dickens and Butler.
